Deep Brain Stimulation
I'm the one in the back there with my pants tucked in my socks not looking too impressed at all, but i certainly was. It's just that after standing for 5 hours straight you get a little tired, and i actually saw two operations. One where the patient was asleep and they were going to implant a new battery under the patients color bone that connects to the DBS device in the patients brain. And the other one, as mentioned before, where the patient was awake and was going to get an electrode in the right side of the brain. They had already done the left side on an earlier occasion. Whilst doing the operation, they tested the patients hand movements, the patient had to answer some questions etc, and all this whilst they were deep inside the patients brain, it's amazing.
This is something they do for Parkinson patients, it's kind of like a brain pacemaker to stop the patient from shaking. Roughly.
