Kebnekaise

Day one!

(I'll put the pictures from day 2 and 3 in a different post)

These past 3 days has been the most intense days of my entire life.
At 4 o´clock on sundaymorning we got on a 6 hour train ride to Kiruna, when we got there we took a bus to a place which i still can't pronounce or spell, we ate at a resturant and then we started out journey to Kebnekaise, our 2 mile (20 Km) journey with 16 to 26 kg on our backs. We stopped a lot because the terrain was horrible, rocks everywhere and a lot uphill.

We arrived at the Kebnekaise mountain lodge at about 10 that sunday evening where we sat up our tents . We ate and then went straight to bed, at least i did. The next day we woke up at 9 in the morning and contemplated our journy to the top of Kebnekaise, at about 12.30 in the afternoon we set off and i had no idea what was in store for us and how hard it was going to be.

I can tell you right now that i didn't make it to the top. Halfway there, after climbing some very steep hills, i thought to myself "what if i physically can't make it all the way down" and i was really at my breakingpoint due to the lack of a goodnights sleep and the fact that the day before we had walked for 8 hours with a very heavy load so i headed back. My brother and his friends on the other hand, kept on going and reached the top at 8:30 in the evening.

At 6 o´clock in the morning the next day we packed our things and began to wander the 20 Km back to the busstation. After 9 Km, me, Jakob and 2 of his friends took a boat that took us about 5 Km wich helped a lot, we didn't take that boat on the way to Kebnekaise, but after walking up the top the day before we felt like we needed it. We stopped and had a "Big Lap" (big mac) at "Lap DÃ¥nalds" (mc donalds) when the boat reached it's destination and then we walked the last 5,6 Km to the busstation.

I got home at 12:20 at night yesterday and i now my legs are so sore, and my feet are covered with blisters. Oh, and the amount of mosquitos was unreal, i've got so many mosquito bites on my legs it looks like i've got leprosy.

But was it worth it? HELL YEAH!
